John Luxton m. Mary Redwood

Parents Joseph Luxton & Dorothy Adams
Married Mary Redwood of Upton at Clatworthy, Somerset in 1778.

Mary Luxton (nee Redwood) was buried at St Petrock's Church, Petton on 17 May 1812 aged 68

Apart from the fact that they lived at Corner House, Bampton, we know no more of John & Mary than is shown above. Of their children other than Joseph we know the following:

Their eldest son, John Luxton, before his marriage, had an illegitimate child by Mary a Mary Garland, who was know as John Garland alias Luxton. (This John married as John Luxton, but many of his children were christened Garland Luxton). John, a carpenter & joiner then married Ann Webb on 30 Nov 1801 at Witton St George in Somerset & had 8 children, of whom William became a master builder, James became a carpenter & Mary Ann became a dress maker. Ann was a widow by the 1851 census, and was living at Twiler Court, Taunton, with her son James.

Robert Luxton married Elizabeth Turner on 5 Nov 1810 at St Mary Magdalene, Taunton. On the 1851 census he was a carpenter and she was a washer woman: they had twelve children:

William Luxton married Betty & had three children:

Elizabeth Luxton

Betty appears on the 1851 census aged 70 living at Creech St Michael.

James Luxton married Elizabeth Palfrey, known as Betsy on 31 Oct 1816 at Morebath. They had five children:

John Luxton bapt 29 Dec 1816 at Morebath became a servant
Mary Luxton bapt 27 Sept 1821 at Morebath
William Luxton bapt 4 Jan 1824 at Morebath buried 25 Jul 1824 aged 11 months
George Luxton bapt 6 Nov 1825 at Morebath became a farm bailiff
James Luxton bapt 26 Jan 1834 at Upton became an apprentice blacksmith

Thomas Luxton married Ann Cooksley on 15 Apr 1831 at Upton and had five children. After his burial in 1855 Ann married again to James Stone, a wheelwright.

George Luxton married Ann and was a stonemason. He died on 18 Apr 1891 leaving effects of £21.1.0
